Senior Data Engineer

Ambit+Greenzone is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to work closely with a federal client and their reporting and data management team.  The team is responsible for business intelligence reporting on subjects related consumer complaints data and data management services to support data analytics related operations. Responsibilities:

The specific duties include but are not necessarily limited to the following:

  • The senior-level Data Engineer will work primarily within data management related tasks areas and secondarily supporting business intelligence reporting operations and related developments and maintenance
  • Independently collaborate with project stakeholders to provide project management task supports through technical development and operations support, with additional tasks including, but not limited to, define and document business processes, stakeholder engagements, continuous improvement, etc., for data management and business intelligence reporting initiatives, including workflow management systems, internal and public-facing digital products, data reporting and business analysis tools
  • Independently execute and support data operations requirements, with ability to perform ETL (extract, transform, and load) type tasks through scripting languages, including, but not limited to, Python or R, from multiple data sources and/or APIs. Assist in interpreting, enhancing, and creating technical documentations for existing scripts and their functionalities
  • Independently execute day-to-day data quality assurance plan and other requested data quality investigations and impact analysis across multiple systems and meet data quality standards
  • Establish expert working knowledge including, but not limited to, data architecture, data definition, data mapping, business and operational logics of Consumer Response data and complaint processing systems
  • Address interdependent data issues, effectively communicate complex data management information or solutions cross-functionally.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust background check.
  • Six years of demonstrated relevant experience, with a mix of both general and specialized experience. General experience can include project management and support experience, such as requirements gathering, document and process analysis, etc.
  • Specialized experience relates to ability to technically support data operations, data quality, data analytics and data management.
  • Technical skills must include hands on Python or R experience in professional environment to support data analytics, data operations and other back-end development, such as data pipelines.
  • Must be proficient in writing complex SQL queries using enterprise databases such as PostgreSQL or SQL Server.
  • Experience in operating in Linux/UNIX server environment in addition to Windows. Knowledgeable in DevOps and ETL (extract, transform, and load) development and processes, data warehouse development and operations.

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Information System, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Management, Engineering, or other related field of study.
  • Ability to create database stored procedure/function.
  • Knowledge in data pipelines operations and data products development in cloud environments such as Amazon Web Services (AWS).
