Quality Assurance Test Engineer

Ambit + Greenzone has an immediate need for a Quality Assurance Tester (Test Engineer) supporting our Federal Client. The Quality Assurance Tester (Test Engineer) will be responsible for testing and evaluating new and existing applications to identify and help remove bugs, glitches, and other user experience issues.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in an Agile environment (Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives)
  • Review and analyze system requirements, specifications, user documentation, help files, and other project documentation to ensure quality of the products and test to be developed
  • Ensure proper version control and configuration management of all test cases developed and test environments used
  • Develop and maintain good professional working relationships with team members and client personnel
  • Collaborate with software engineers to develop effective test strategies and plans
  • Create new or update existing test cases and scripts
  • Execute test cases, and document and analyze results
  • Identify, document, and report defects to software engineer
  • Assist software engineers with troubleshooting defects
  • Track defects to closure
  • Conduct post-release / post-implementation smoke testing
  • Work with the project team in support of creating and presenting customer briefings
  • Participate in Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (and non-dual citizenship) with the ability to obtain and maintain a government suitability clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related technical or functional discipline
  • 7+ years of experience as a Quality Assurance Tester (Test Engineer) or similar role
  • 3+ year of experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
  • Experience working in a SEI CMMI® Level 3 or higher environment
  • Proven history of successfully coordinating and executing all aspects of testing efforts from project inception to post launch
  • Demonstrated experience with various forms of software testing: functional, non-functional, integration, system, regression, and end-to-end testing
  • Experience with Jira or other issue/project tracking software
  • Experience with manual, web service, and database testing
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with business and technical personnel at all levels of an organization
  • Strong observational skills, analytical, and results oriented
  • Strong problem-solving skills, and a passion to learn
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite

Desired Skills

  • Experience creating and executing tests with Automation Tools (e.g., Selenium)
  • Experience with performance testing tools and techniques
  • Prior software development experience

Location: Washington, DC (Due to COVID-19, onsite client work has been suspended until further notice; however, onsite work may be required on a case-by-case basis for this position.)
