Telecommunications Management
Customer Need
Cost optimization and business process streamlining are a critical ongoing focus for mission-oriented organizations. In parallel, those organizations' ability to remain "connected" in an increasingly dispersed, 24/7 work culture relies heavily on the quality and availability of telecommunications equipment and services. Merging - and effectively managing - these needs can affect large-scale improvement to an organization's service delivery while protecting the bottom line.

Our services include:

Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency
Since September 2008, Ambit has provided a range of integrated, innovative strategic and programmatic management services for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). On-site at FEMA's facility in Winchester, VA, Ambit's PMO works in step with FEMA Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) and the Telecommunications Service Center (TSC) to continually enhance the effectiveness and streamlined availability of telecom services and equipment for FEMA's headquarters employees and disaster-response end-users in the field. With Option Year 1 of the contract recently executed, Ambit continues to manage telecommunications provisioning and billing for the customer, as well as all related training, communications, and business process improvement/development.
At the forefront of the largest logistical transition FEMA had undertaken in 12 years, Ambit was initially called upon to facilitate "seamless" (i.e. no disruption in service) migration of the agency's telecommunications program. Not only did FEMA require transition in terms of service for and provision of mission-critical equipment (i.e. all wireless, wireline, and satellite telecommunications devices) available on multiple new contracts but also in the way FEMA fundamentally approached and strategically managed its overall telecommunications program. Execution of the transition required an intimate understanding of FEMA's existing inventory, ordering systems, business processes, and long-term strategic objectives for agency-wide telecommunications management. Ambit worked closely with its sub-contracting partners and the customer to understand these processes and to ensure communications to all FEMA end-users were clear and consistent. Using rigor and largely non-automated processes for this very large task, Ambit succeeded in facilitating the transition of service for more than 30,000 telecommunications assets.
Now as a trusted partner to FEMA's IT leadership, our team is integrally involved with strategic planning for the future-state of FEMA telecommunications management and acquisition.
