Ambit's founders, John Condon and Kim Hayes, firmly believe in giving back to the community. Ambit is involved with many charities in the Washington, DC area and encourages and supports charitable work by our employees. Ambit is particularly dedicated to helping members of the military and local children and their families along with those charities of special importance to our employees.
Founded by two service-disabled Veterans, Ambit is also committed to charitable organizations that support our troops, including the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, Luke's Wings, Team Fisher House, and the Girl Scouts' donation program to send cookies to troops.
Ambit is also raising money for the Wounded Warrior Project through an employee team that is currently training for the Tough Mudder, which will be held in the DC area in October 2011.
Ambit has worked consistently to support organizations that focus on children, the future of our nation, and their families.
Ambit is a sustaining sponsor for several local schools, providing mentorship and food and clothing to children in need. We also assist with the expense of field trips so that children from lower income households can participate in these fun and educational experiences. In addition to our involvement with Northern Fauquier County schools such as Marshall Middle, Coleman Elementary, and Claude Thompson Elementary, Ambit sponsors Lower Louden Girls Softball.
Ambit has a long history of involvement with the Ronald McDonald House Charities. At Ambit's 2008 holiday party, employees donated gifts and other items for the Ronald McDonald House, a tradition that we look forward to revisiting at this year's party. Ambit sponsored teams participating in the Kaps for Kids walk in 2009 and 2010. In March 2011, we will serve as a Mile Marker Sponsor for the Ronald McDonald House Red Shoe Run & Walk 5k and have a team of walkers and runners.
Ambit also supports local food banks, which play an important role for area families struggling in the current economy. At this year's holiday party, Ambit will collect canned goods and other needed items for the Maryland Food Bank. A team of Ambit employees will also provide a day of service to the food bank's Baltimore facility in January.
While we encourage our employees to participate in our corporate activities within the community, Ambit is also proud of their individual commitments to support charities that hold special meaning to them. Ambit has sponsored employee participation in the National MS Society Walk and the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.
